God’s Judgment Unavoidable

9 I saw the Lord standing beside the ^(A)altar, and He said,

“Strike the pillar capitals so that the ^(B)thresholds will shake,
And ^(C)break them on the heads of them all!
Then I will ^(D)put to death the rest of them with the sword;
They will ^(E)not have a fugitive who will flee,
Nor a survivor who will escape.
²Though they dig into ^(F)Sheol,
From there My hand will take them;
And though they ^(G)ascend to heaven,
From there I will bring them down.
³And though they hide on the summit of Carmel,
I will ^(H)track them down and take them from there;
And though they ^(I)hide themselves from My sight on the bottom of the sea,
I will command the ^(J)serpent from there, and it will bite them.
⁴And though they go into ^(K)captivity before their enemies,
From there I will command the sword and it will kill them,
And I will ^(L)set My eyes against them for harm and not for good.”

⁵The Lord ^[a]God of armies,
The One who ^(M)touches the land so that it quakes,
And ^(N)all those who live in it mourn,
And all of it rises up like the Nile
And subsides like the Nile of Egypt;
⁶The One who builds His ^(O)upper chambers in the heavens
And has founded His vaulted dome over the earth,
He who ^(P)calls for the waters of the sea
And ^(Q)pours them out on the face of the earth,
^(R)The Lord is His name.

⁷“Are you not as the sons of ^(S)Ethiopia to Me,
You sons of Israel?” declares the Lord.
“Have I not brought up Israel from the land of Egypt,
And the ^(T)Philistines from Caphtor and the ^(U)Arameans from ^(V)Kir?
⁸Behold, the ^(W)eyes of the Lord God are on the sinful kingdom,
And I will ^(X)eliminate it from the face of the earth;
Nevertheless, I will ^(Y)not totally eliminate the house of Jacob,”
Declares the Lord.
⁹“For behold, I am commanding,
And I will ^(Z)shake the house of Israel among all nations
As grain is shaken in a sieve,
But not a pebble will fall to the ground.
¹⁰All the ^(AA)sinners of My people will die by the sword,
Those who say, ‘^(AB)The catastrophe will not overtake or confront us.’

The Restoration of Israel

¹¹“On that day I will ^(AC)raise up the fallen ^[b]^(AD)shelter of David,
And wall up its ^(AE)gaps;
I will also raise up its ruins
And rebuild it as in the ^(AF)days of old;
¹²^(AG)So that they may ^[c]possess the remnant of ^(AH)Edom
And all the ^[d]nations who are ^(AI)called by My name,”
Declares the Lord who does this.

¹³“Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord,
“When the ^(AJ)plowman will overtake the reaper,
And the one who treads grapes will overtake him who sows the seed;
When the ^(AK)mountains will drip grape juice,
And all the hills will come apart.
¹⁴I will also ^(AL)restore the fortunes of My people Israel,
And they will ^(AM)rebuild the desolated cities and live in them;
They will also ^(AN)plant vineyards and drink their wine,
And make gardens and eat their fruit.
¹⁵I will also plant them on their land,
And ^(AO)they will not be uprooted again from their land
Which I have given them,”
Says the Lord your God.

Jesus Cleanses a Man with Leprosy

8 When ^[a]Jesus came down from the mountain, ^[b]large crowds followed Him. ²And ^(A)a man with ^[c]leprosy came to Him and ^[d]^(B)bowed down before Him, and said, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” ³^[e]Jesus reached out with His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” And immediately his ^(C)leprosy was cleansed. ⁴And Jesus *said to him, “^(D)See that you tell no one; but ^(E)go, ^(F)show yourself to the priest and present the ^[f]offering that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

The Centurion’s Faith

⁵And ^(G)when ^[g]Jesus entered Capernaum, a ^[h]centurion came to Him, begging Him, ⁶and saying, “^[i]Lord, my ^[j]servant is lying ^(H)paralyzed at home, terribly tormented.” ⁷Jesus *said to him, “I will come and heal him.” ⁸But the centurion replied, “^[k]Lord, I am not worthy for You to come under my roof, but just ^[l]say the word, and my ^[m]servant will be healed. ⁹For I also am a man under ^(I)authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to this one, ‘Go!’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes, and to my slave, ‘Do this!’ and he does it.” ¹⁰Now when Jesus heard this, He was amazed and said to those who were following, “Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith ^[n]with anyone in Israel. ¹¹And I say to you that many ^(J)will come from east and west, and ^[o]recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven; ¹²but ^(K)the sons of the kingdom will be thrown out into ^(L)the outer darkness; in that place ^(M)there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” ¹³And Jesus said to the centurion, “Go; ^[p]it shall be done for you ^(N)as you have believed.” And the ^[q]servant was healed at that very ^[r]moment.

Peter’s Mother-in-law and Many Others Healed

¹⁴^(O)When Jesus came into Peter’s ^[s]home, He saw his mother-in-law lying sick in bed with a fever. ¹⁵And He touched her hand, and the fever left her; and she got up and ^[t]waited on Him. ¹⁶Now when evening came, they brought to Him many ^(P)who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and ^(Q)healed all who were ill. ¹⁷This happened so that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet would be fulfilled: “^(R)He Himself took our illnesses and ^[u]carried away our diseases.”

Destruction in Israel and Judah

1 The ^(A)word of the Lord which came to ^(B)Micah of Moresheth in the days of ^(C)Jotham, ^(D)Ahaz, and ^(E)Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and which he saw regarding Samaria and Jerusalem.

²Hear, you peoples, all of ^[a]you;
^(F)Listen carefully, earth and ^[b]all it contains,
And may the Lord ^[c]God be a ^(G)witness against you,
The Lord from His holy temple.
³For behold, the Lord is ^(H)coming forth from His place.
He will come down and ^(I)tread on the high places of the ^[d]earth.
⁴^(J)The mountains will melt under Him
And the valleys will be split,
Like wax before the fire,
Like water poured down a steep place.
⁵All this is due to the ^[e]wrongdoing of Jacob
And the sins of the house of Israel.
What is the ^(K)^[f]wrongdoing of Jacob?
Is it not ^(L)Samaria?
What is the ^(M)high ^[g]place of Judah?
Is it not Jerusalem?
⁶For I will make Samaria a ^(N)heap of ruins ^[h]in the open country,
^(O)Planting places for a vineyard.
I will ^(P)hurl her stones down into the valley,
And ^(Q)lay bare her foundations.
⁷All of her ^(R)idols will be crushed,
All of her earnings will be burned with fire,
And all of her images I will make desolate;
For she collected them from a ^(S)prostitute’s earnings,
And to the earnings of a prostitute they will return.

⁸Because of this I must mourn and wail,
I must go ^(T)barefoot and naked;
I must do mourning like the ^(U)jackals,
And a mourning like the ostriches.
⁹For her ^(V)wound is incurable,
For ^(W)it has come to Judah;
It has reached the ^(X)gate of my people,
Even to Jerusalem.
¹⁰^(Y)Do not tell it in Gath,
Do not weep at all.
At ^[i]Beth-le-aphrah roll yourself in the dust in mourning.
¹¹^[j]Go on your way, inhabitant of ^[k]Shaphir, in ^(Z)shameful nakedness.
The inhabitant of ^[l]^(AA)Zaanan does not ^[m]escape.
The mourning of ^[n]Beth-ezel: “He will take from you its ^[o]support.”
¹²For the inhabitant of ^[p]Maroth
^[q]^(AB)Waits for something good,
Because a disaster has come down from the Lord
To the ^(AC)gate of Jerusalem.
¹³Harness the chariot to the team of horses,
You inhabitant of ^(AD)Lachish—
She was the beginning of sin
To the daughter of Zion—
Because in you were found
The ^(AE)rebellious acts of Israel.
¹⁴Therefore you will give parting ^(AF)gifts
In behalf of Moresheth-gath;
The houses of ^(AG)Achzib will become a ^[r]^(AH)deception
To the kings of Israel.
¹⁵Moreover, I will bring on you
The one who takes possession,
You inhabitant of ^[s]^(AI)Mareshah.
The glory of Israel will enter ^(AJ)Adullam.
¹⁶Shave yourself ^(AK)bald, yes, cut off your hair,
Because of the children of your delight;
Extend your baldness like the eagle,
For they will ^(AL)go from you into exile.

Man of Lawlessness

2 Now we ask you, ^(A)brothers and sisters, regarding the ^[a]^(B)coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our ^(C)gathering together to Him, ²that you not be quickly shaken from your ^[b]composure or be disturbed either by a ^(D)spirit, or a ^[c]^(E)message, or a ^(F)letter as if from us, to the effect that ^(G)the day of the Lord ^(H)has come. ³^(I)No one is to deceive you in any way! For it will not come unless the ^[d]^(J)apostasy comes first, and the ^(K)man of lawlessness is revealed, the ^(L)son of destruction, ⁴who opposes and exalts himself above ^[e]^(M)every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, ^(N)displaying himself as being God. ⁵Do you not remember that ^(O)while I was still with you, I was telling you these things? ⁶And you know ^(P)what restrains him now, so that he will be revealed in his time. ⁷For ^(Q)the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only ^[f]^(R)He who now restrains will do so until ^[g]He is ^[h]removed. ⁸Then that lawless one ^(S)will be revealed, whom the Lord will eliminate ^(T)with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the ^(U)appearance of His ^[i]coming; ⁹that is, the one whose ^[j]coming is in accord with the activity of ^(V)Satan, with all power and false ^[k]^(W)signs and wonders, ¹⁰and with ^[l]all the deception of wickedness for ^(X)those who perish, because they did not accept the love of ^(Y)the truth so as to be saved. ¹¹For this reason ^(Z)God ^[m]will send upon them ^[n]a ^(AA)deluding influence so that they will believe ^[o]what is false, ¹²in order that they all may be ^[p]judged who ^(AB)did not believe the truth, but ^[q]^(AC)took pleasure in wickedness.

Stand Firm

¹³^(AD)But we should always give thanks to God for you, ^(AE)brothers and sisters beloved by the Lord, because ^(AF)God has chosen you ^[r]from the beginning ^(AG)for salvation ^[s]^(AH)through sanctification ^[t]by the Spirit and faith in the truth. ¹⁴It was for this He ^(AI)called you through ^(AJ)our gospel, ^[u]that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. ¹⁵So then, brothers and sisters, ^(AK)stand firm and ^(AL)hold on to the traditions which you were taught, whether ^(AM)by word of mouth or ^(AN)by letter ^[v]from us.

¹⁶^(AO)Now may our Lord Jesus Christ ^(AP)Himself and God our Father, who has ^(AQ)loved us and given us eternal comfort and ^(AR)good hope by grace, ¹⁷^(AS)comfort and ^(AT)strengthen your hearts in every good work and word.
